Aunt Gail's Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

I guess my hoarder- like tendencies for collecting great tried & true recipes go a long way back.....

  For my bridal shower {a buh-zillion years ago} in 1992,  I enclosed 3x5 cards in with the  invitations and asked family members & friends to share their favorite recipe for  (the bride to be) to start my first collection with.... I received so many great ones, including this sugar cookie recipe from my Aunt Gail.  I'm sure I've made this recipe 100 times....

These cookies are Soft {like my mid section}

The actually recipe card from 1992.  It's crusted with flour.

Aunt Gail's Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

  • 1 Cup Butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 5 to 6 Cups flour
Blend butter and sugar until creamy. Mix in eggs, and remaining ingredients.  Sift in enough flour to make it easy to handle, usually 5 to 6 cups.
Roll out on floured surface, cut with choice of cookie cutter and bake at 350 degrees approx. 8 minutes.  Don't over bake and they will stay soft until gone.  Frost as you like.
